True story. After every major performance that we do, we go out to eat. As musicians, "We Work For Food." No self-respecting band student would consider doing a performance without the possibility of eating afterwards. Anyway, a few years ago, we were coming back from a performance; a contest, I believe. It was pretty close to closing time, but we still had about an hour. A few parents went ahead to "scope out" the eatery in advance. When we arrived, they were less than enthused about the place, but seeing that it was getting late, we had no choice but to eat there. It was a buffet-style place that some people were getting excited about. I had never eaten there, but I was willing to try it. I mean, come on - Buffet-style!
We enter the establishment, about 120 patrons. We are seated. Then we attack the buffet. It was nothing to write home about, but considering that it was around 9:00 pm, it was okay. The food wasn't totally appealing, but the band "marched on" with little complaints. Then the first casualty arrived at our table. Somebody came over and said that "So and So" just threw up in the sink! WHAT!? First thought, "Why the sink?" Answer: because the toilet was already full! At that moment, everyone's appetite just left the building. After making sure the student was alright, we decided it was time to go. Come to find out the next night watching the news, that establishment was #2 of the worst restaurants in San Antonio. Right next door to #1!
